Three more world heritages July 31, 2010 Three important locations including the Adam's Peak are declared as World heritages. Deputy Minister Faizer Mustapha said the decision was taken at the UNESCO conference on World heritages held in Brazil. It is the Adam's Peak, Horton Plains and the Knuckles Range that have been newly added to the World heritage list. Adam's Peak is the only mountain in the world where four major religions get together and worship. To the Buddhist, the imprint found on the summit of the mountain is the hallowed footprint of the Lord Buddha. It is 2243 metres in height above the sea level and about 27 kilometres from the bottom to the top by foot. The Knuckles Mountain is the most important of bio-diversity environments with range of mountains and a great water and wild life resource. Horton Plains is located in Sri Lanka's highest plateau more than 7000 feet above the sea level. The plains are more often than not, visible only before 10 am due to heavy mist which engulfs the area.

On top of Monte Solare on Capri wenseday 5. may 2010 on a daytrip from napoli. Me (Bjarte from Norway) and two canadians went together to this beautiful Island and had a fantastic day there. We took a skilift up to the highest point of the Island and the view from the top was like from a dream. The Cliff was so cool, the water so blue and all the seagulls were flying around like crazy. The highest point of this 10sq.km large island is at Monte Solare, the sun mountain. It is located on the west side of the island. This mountain is responsible for keeping the climate fairly mild, as it blocks the cold winds from sweeping over the island. Because of this climate the vegetation is very lush.

The infamous Black Bear Pass is one of the most difficult mountain passes in Colorado. In July 2010 I did it on an ATV and filmed the entire trail. This video is an edited version of the 60-minutes I actually filmed. It begins at the summit of Black Bear Pass and ends at the Power Station and Bridal Veil Falls above Telluride, Colorado. If you want to watch the most difficult part of the trail, which begins at "The Steps," and shows all the tight switchbacks on the way down, skip to the 11-minute mark. The first part of the trail is a nice moderate trail and does not move into the difficult rating until "The Steps," which is a steep portion of the road covered in large slabs of rock with loose shale on top. Some of the steps are 12-to-18 inches in height. RANDY RHOADS BIO Born: December 06, 1956 Died: March 19, 1982 While the most dominating and influential heavy metal guitarist of the '80s would have to be Eddie Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne's original guitarist, Randy Rhoads, was one of the few guitarists of the era to create his own signature style. While just about every other guitarist was merely copying Van Halen's unorthodox two-hand tapping technique, Rhoads was one of the first heavy metal guitarists to incorporate classical music into his playing (later picked up by such six-string shredders as Yngwie Malmsteen). Although he only issued a pair of major-label albums during his lifetime, he immediately reached legendary status upon his tragic death in early 1982. Rhoads was born on December 6, 1956, in Santa Monica, CA. Rhoads came from a musical family (his mother was a school music teacher) and began playing guitar before he even reached the age of ten. By his teenage years, Rhoads had become interested in the hard rock sounds of Mountain, Led Zeppelin, and Alice Cooper and as his musical taste changed, so had his guitar style. After playing in several school bands, Rhoads hooked up with singer Kevin DuBrow and formed Quiet Riot. Along with Van Halen, Quiet Riot became a major draw on the LA club circuit even though new wave and punk were the most dominating musical styles on the Sunset Strip. Little did I realize that it was the beginning of my exercise program ... LOL ... we walked up a "major" hill to get to a terrific chairlift that took us on a wonderful sightseeing journey part way up the mountain. On the back of the chair was attached a "luge" type car that ... if you chose to ... you could ride back down the hill. The boys wanted to do that, but I decided to opt for the lift back down also. Scenic doesn't even begin to describe the sights. I was totally enjoying the ride ... and when they decided to speak English they told me that we would have lunch at the top ... well ... we had to hike straight up the mountain after we got off the lift to get to the quaint lodge. I guess it was better that I went in blind .... Oh MY ... Houdini and I became Austrian mountain goats! At least I wasn't wearing my "crocs" ... I hope you enjoy my "journey"! In the Summer of 2010 ten students met in Tbilisi, Georgia to travel together through Georgia and Armenia. Led by the top notch Georgian cultural guide George "Goga" Vashakmadze , by the peerless Armenian tour guide Irina Astvatsatouryants and the tireless mountain guide known only as Dimitri, and accompanied by professor Rob Smurr of The Evergreen State College, the ten spent over 3 weeks trekking through torrential rivers, high mountain passes, cities and villages throughout both countries and had experiences that none of them will soon forget.
