She saw nothing amiss when she first arrived, although the dogs already had found their own way outside, which was not unusual. Gernetzke told fire officials that she observed white smoke coming out of the dryer vent in the home and then punched in a code to open the garage door. When the garage door opened, black smoke came billowing out and she called 911. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the garage and significant portions of the remainder of the home were engulfed in flames. Mutual aid was requsted from MIlton, Whitewater, Johnson Creek and other area fire departments. No one was injured as a result of the fire. The home, valued at nearly $500000, was a total loss. Damaged dryer vent that the handyman (Michel Legault) screwed up. I paid $80 for him to set my new washer/dryer up (a stacked set up). I noticed a couple of weeks ago that my bathroom was really warm when the dryer was running but thought it might have been due to the high humidity we had been experiencing. I used fabric softener for the first time on Saturday (July 17, 2010) and after the dryer was on a few minutes, I could really smell the fabric softener. It was strong... I realized after I made this video that this probably happened about 3 weeks ago when he would have moved the laundry set out to put in my new baseboards. Since I've had several problems with BMJ Decoration in Gatineau, QC, I'm not allowing Michel, Mark (the painter), or Julie Hammond (the decorator) back into my home. Julie praised Michel for the excellent work he did. Not all of his work was bad but here's his "excellent work" that wasn't at all good.
