The exhibit officially opens on Monday, August 2. Today I hung the show. The Gryphon D'Or has been closed for two weeks (summer vacation) and some of the people were back on the job today packing their short bread (mmm... good). They were also doing some renovations so many of the chairs & tables were not in place. This made it a little easier to access the walls. There are 24 portraits and as you can see I used every inch of available wall space. I completed the mp3 music file (185 songs, 9.1 hours). The music, of course, is taken from the 24 participants and the mp3 file will be played in the "shuffle" setting. I am looking forward to having a few meals here just to experience the music of my you tube friends. It will all seem quite friendly and familiar I am sure. I will bring my camera during the week to make a video when the music is playing, but for right now I just wanted you to get a look at the place. On September 7th Raymond Crooke, Kathy Troyer (troyota1955) and myself will play "live music" which we will also video for You Tube.

Singer + Songwriter, Amy Serrata creates music intended to heal and bring people together. Amy's interest in singing arose at an early age listening to the sounds of Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Louis Armstrong to name a few. She sung in choir and started singing lessons when she was 10. As she got older she sung in several gospel choirs and through that experience continued to develop her vocal improvisational skills. In 2006, Amy started singing with the Stanford University Gospel Choir. A couple years later a friend of hers encouraged her to create her own music. She let that thought simmer and shortly after began to improvise using poetry that she had previously written. The melodies started to naturally form and she then worked with producers: Hyp, HMD & Nyambezi, Willie Norwood to collaborate with for her first self titled album, 'Amy Serrata'. Amy is currently working on her second album and plans on releasing it this year. Some of the producers who she is currently working with are Block Cheddar (an LA production company), Bedrock (who has worked with Goapele and many other incredible people), Apple Juice Kid (hes worked with YahZarah, Wale, 9th Wonder, The Foreign Exchange etc.), Ski (hes worked with Jay Z, Mos Def and many other incredible people), Yung Mars (a dope bay area producer).
