NYC punk/powerpop band formed by Ed Tomney - guitar/vox, Ernie Brooks - bass, and Jesse Chamberlain - Drums. The band was soon joined by Chris Spedding who shared guitar and vocal duties with Thomney. Spedding was an accomplished British session musician who, since the 1960s, has worked with Elton John, Paul McCartney, Jack Bruce, Alan Price, Harry Nilson, Roxy Music and many others. Spedding also scored a top 20 solo hit in 1975 in the UK with the song Motorbikin'. Ernie Brooks was formerly in the Modern Lovers and Jessie Chamberlain was a former member of the avant-garde psychedelic band The Red Crayola. The Necessaries released a single on spy records in 1979 featuring the songs You Can Borrow My Car b/w Runaway Child (Minors Beware) and an LP on Sire in 1982. The Necessaries' original members were Ed Tomney- guitar and vocals, Randy Gun-guitar and vocals, Ernie Brooks- bass, Jesse Chamberlain- drums. The original group was a gritty guitar driven foursome songwriting duties were shared by Tomney and Gun. The band's first single was produced by John Cale one month after the members first banded together. Houston released her third album Any Way You Like It in 1976.[1] The first single released was her version of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes' 1975 song "Don't Leave Me This Way".[1] In February 1977 the track hit #1 in the US on both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts as well as on the Club Play Singles chart. "Don't Leave Me This Way" won Houston the Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the Grammys for 1977. Besides its US success "Don't Leave Me This Way" became a hit in at least twelve countries, including the UK where it reached #13 despite the concurrent single release of the Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes which reached #5. Also in 1977 Houston teamed up with Jerry Butler to record the album Thelma & Jerry and that November 1977 she co-starred in the film Game Show Models. It was announced in February 1977 that Houston would star as Bessie Smith in a filmation of the play Me and Bessie, to be produced by Motown; after an announcement that December that Houston was set to portray Bessie Smith in a biopic to be produced in 1978 by Columbia Pictures nothing more was heard of the project. The second single from Any Way You Like It was Houston's rendition of "If It's the Last Thing I Do", a standard written by Charlie Chaplin; the track had been recorded and prepped for single release in 1973 but canceled. The impact of "If It's the Last Thing I Do" was far less than that of "Don't Leave Me This Way", as the former fell short of both the R&B Top Ten and the Pop Top 40 ...

Documentation on this rare GTO includes the order sheets, the Concours Gold Award from the GTO Association of America, and signed letters from the Pontiac Historical Society president Jim Madison, and the Rocky Mountain Concours d'Eligance. Extensive photos and documentation books complete the merits of this unique historical piece of automotive history. This very special car is one of two known GTO's in existence today from a Thom McAn Nationwide Sweepstakes. This GTO was awarded in the Thom McAn shoe company contest back in 1966, the stores had a smashing nationwide advertising campaign to give away Pontiac GTO cars to promote their new line of GTO shoes. Contestants merely had to go to a Thom McAn shoe store and check out the shoes which were cleverly placed under their noses. The Great One" as it was named, was originally given to a Colorado woman, who sold to its second owner. There it remained until being stolen in 1979. It was discovered 18 years later near a salvage yard by Bryan S. who didn't realize its value until further down the road. Bryan's goal was to restore the car as correct as he could make it, right down to the custom Tiger Gold colored paint.
